Dementia Activist is the candid memoirs of translator and linguist Helga Rohra, who was diagnosed with Dementia at age 50.
The brief called for a striking, simple design, aimed at trade audiences. The colour palette of the photograph leant itself to a classic, muted look and I fell in love with it. The cover was accepted on the first draft, as was the typesetting.

The book needed to be accessible for parents while also being appropriate for professionals – we wanted the cover to be both inclusive and positive.

Transformative Imagery, edited by Leslie Davenport, gives an overview in guided imagery for anything from pain relief to mental health to social change.
Aimed at professionals, the brief asked for strong type and a transformative image. The image used on the final cover comes from the book itself, painted by Laury Rappaport. It’s quite a hefty book, which meant I was able to have fun with the spine. The frame on the back is a nod to the box styling in the interior, typeset by Tom Alexander.
